This Week in the Pac 10

I never had any luck picking winners, so in honor of  Leonard Postero we pick the Losers. Enjoy!

Arizona at Arizona State

The Wildcats head to Tempe to take on their in state rival Arizona State. The Wildcats and the Ducks played a classic game last Saturday night with the Wildcats just coming up short in OT. This is a heartbreaking loss for Arizona but they have made great strides this year. Arizona State has had a tough go of it losing 5 straight. The Sun Devils need to get more out of their offense, that is unlikely to happen at this point in the season.

UCLA at USC

UCLA enters this game winning 3 straight and USC enters this game after it’s most embarrassing loss with 2 weeks to prepare. USC can be mad all they want; but they have problems at quarterback and their defense is living off past reputation. In their last 5 games the Trojans have given up 180 points (36 a game in that span). Bottom line the Trojans are a young team trying to find their way. UCLA has a good defense but has struggled to score points. I think a motivated USC team will show up this week and if they don’t handle the ball like it’s radioactive they should win.

Notre Dame at Stanford

The writing appears to be on the wall for Head Coach Charlie Weis. Too many close losses, others say if Notre Dame wants to compete nationally the university is going to have to relax some of their admission standards. It is ironic that they are playing a University with similar standards that has experienced more success on the field. There is only a one game difference in their records but compare Stanford’s quality wins versus Notre Dame’s and it is not close. Stanford wins the SAT bowl.
