Leonards Losers Tribute 2017 Week 14 College Football Picks
November 29th 2017 – Week 14
The conference championship games are this week and there are some great ones; but let us reflect on what happened the week before during rivalry week. Auburn won the Iron bowl and are headed to Atlanta to face the Bulldogs for the second time in 3 weeks. Miami dropped their first game of the year at Pitt; Ole Miss beat Mississippi State and the Buckeyes took care Michigan while Clemson took care of South Carolina. There were some major developments in coaching changes last week. Chip Kelly is back in the PAC 12 taking over at UCLA, Dan Mullen left Mississippi State for Florida and Tennessee …..well Tennessee is still looking for Twitter approval. There are about 6 teams that if they win – there are in; another 4 are routing for chaos. I hope you had an outstanding Thanksgiving and enjoy the picks below.
Stanford at USC
Stanford and USC get together in the PAC 12 conference title game. Both teams have better chances of winning the lottery than getting in the College Football Playoff – but you never know. Stanford continues to use a familiar formula of ground game and solid defense. USC has a solid team but had a couple of costly losses including a blowout loss to Notre Dame. This will be a close game and it will hinge on Stanford’s ability to run the ball on USC. I think that they will be able to do so and win the PAC 12 Friday night.
Zanes Zero – USC
TCU at Oklahoma
The Horned Frogs and Sooners play in the first Big 12 conference title game. Oklahoma controls their own destiny and a win should get them in. TCU has 2 losses on the year; one to Iowa State and the other to Oklahoma State. The Sooners only stubbed their toe against Iowa State and have looked great in every other game. TCU will slow down the Sooners but I think Oklahoma has way too many playmakers to be fully stopped.
Zanes Zero – TCU
Georgia at Auburn
The Georgia Bulldogs and Auburn Tigers get together again for the SEC title. The last time these 2 teams got together Auburn manhandled the Dawgs in Auburn. Auburn followed up that performance with handling Alabama with ease. Georgia plays great defense, have about 14 great running backs, and will play much better this time around. I just do not know if they will play well enough to win. Ah…what the heck…..
Zanes Zero – Auburn
Miami at Clemson
The Hurricanes and the Clemson Tigers meet in the ACC Championship game in Charlotte on Saturday. Miami had a tough loss last week at Pitt and just were out of sync; Clemson TKO’d the Gamecocks in Columbia and have finished the season strong on both sides of the ball. The winner will make it into the final four. I think Clemson has the momentum and will take care of the Hurricanes for their 3rd straight ACC title.
Zanes Zero – Miami
Ohio St at Wisconsin
The Buckeyes take on the undefeated Badgers of Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship game. Wisconsin plays ball control offense and their defense is underrated. The Badgers can shut their critics up with a win against the Buckeyes but it will not be easy. Ohio State has been up and down all year and will need multiple upsets to occur to have a chance at getting into the playoff. I really like Wisconsin but I think the Buckeyes will win the game.
Zanes Zero – Wisconsin
Fresno St at Boise St
Fresno State and Boise State play each other for the second week in a row but this time for the conference championship. Both teams are 9-3 and Fresno State won last week. Both teams are evenly matched but I think Boise State will take the sequel.
Zanes Zero – Fresno State
Memphis at UCF
Memphis and Central Florida get together in the AAC Championship game. UCF beat South Florida last week in a track meet and still are undefeated on the season. Coach Frost is rumored to be heading back to Nebraska but if the distractions take over, they will lose against the Tigers. The Tigers have only lost once this year; that loss came against UCF. I think Memphis will give them a game but UCF will head into bowl season undefeated.
Zanes Zero – Memphis
La-Monroe at Florida St
Florida State hosts Louisiana Monroe in a makeup game from September. The Noles rolled rival Florida last week and now the only drama left for this season is the courtship of Jimbo Fisher from Texas A&M. Noles win the game.
