Leonards Losers Tribute 2017 Week 10 College Football Picks
November 1, 2017 – Week 10
Week 9 was a crazy week in the college football world. On the field Ohio State beat Penn State in the game of the week, Notre Dame kept rolling as they defeated NC State and Georgia ran over Florida. Speaking of the Gators; their rough culminated in a parting of the ways with their head coach. This week the big games are Oklahoma v Oklahoma State, LSU v Alabama and Virginia Tech v Miami. The first College
South Carolina at Georgia
The Gamecocks fly the coop in search of the nest between the hedges to take on the Bulldogs of Georgia. South Carolina is 6-2 on the year and have played solid football all year. The Gamecocks would love to hand the Bulldogs their first loss on the year. Georgia beat Florida so bad last week they fired their coach. The Bulldogs are having a special season but this is hardly a layup; I think the Dawgs will feed off the home crowd and prevail in this endeavor.
Zanes Zero – South Carolina
Florida at Missouri
The Gators leave the Swamp to take on the Missouri Tigers in a SEC East battle. Missouri has a great offense but has problems on the defensive side of the ball. That should not be a problem this week because Florida seems to stop themselves on offense. The Gators had a tough week last week being blown out by rival Georgia and losing their head coach. This will be a close game but I think Missouri adds to the Gators misery.
Zanes Zero – Florida
Virginia Tech at Miami (Fla.)
The Hokies head south to take on the Hurricanes of Miami this week. Miami is still perfect on the season but have had their share of close calls including a narrow win over the one win Tar Heels last week. Virginia Tech is 7-1 on the year with their only loss to Clemson. This game will be a low scoring slug out between 2 teams that cannot afford another loss. I think the home team’s magic will finally run out and Virginia Tech will win by a field goal.
Zanes Zero – Miami FL
Oregon at Washington
The Ducks fly into Seattle for a cup of Starbucks and a foosball game with the Huskies. Oregon is not the Oregon of years past and broke a 3 game losing streak last week when they beat the Utes. Washington beat UCLA last week by 21 and looks to continue their winning ways. Oregon is still looking for a big win this year and they get their chance this week. This game is going to be closer than some expect but I think Washington gets out with a win.
Zanes Zero – Oregon
Arizona at USC
The Wildcats head to the Southern California to take on the Trojans of USC. The Trojans bounced back last week after being demolished by Notre Dame the Trojans beat up on Arizona State and are looking to go sweep the state of Arizona. The Wildcats offense is on a roll and took care of Washington State last week. This is a coin flip game but I think the home team will prevail.
Zanes Zero – Arizona
LSU at Alabama
The Tigers head to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama is undefeated on the year and look like another college playoff team. Since their loss against Troy, LSU has a 3 game winning streak. The scary stat for the Tide – the road team is 26-8-1 in the last 35 meetings. Alabama beat LSU in Baton Rouge last year 10-0 and it would not shock me to see LSU go on the road and keep the game close; but I think the home team will prevail.
Zanes Zero – LSU
Oklahoma at Oklahoma St.
The Sooners head to Stillwater to take on instate rival Oklahoma State. The Sooners and Cowboys come into the game 7-1 and the winner will have a good shot to play for all the marbles. The Cowboys lost earlier in the season to TCU while the Sooners lost to Iowa State. This will be a coin flip game but I think Cowboys offense will carry them to victory.
Zanes Zero – Oklahoma St
Clemson at NC State
The Tigers head to Raleigh to play the Wolfpack of NC State in the Textile bowl (they probably need to rename the series or play it in Honduras). The Tigers are coming off a win against Georgia Tech on a rainy night – it was difficult to determine if they were playing football or water polo. NC State lost to Notre Dame last week in a well-played game. The Tigers are playing well and so is NC State but I think the road team will keep rolling.
Zanes Zero – NC State
Ohio St. at Iowa
The Buckeyes take on the Hawkeyes in a Big Ten battle. Last week Ohio State came back with a fury to defeat Penn State in the game of the week. The Buckeyes control their own destiny in the conference; their lone loss was out of conference to Oklahoma. Iowa is 5-3 on the year and all 3 losses are by 7 points or less. They need to get their offense going to have a prayer against Ohio State; they have failed to score 20 points in 4 of their last 5 games. Yikes. I think the Buckeyes are just too tough for Iowa and the boys from Ohio will probably head home with a victory.
Zanes Zero – Iowa
Penn St. at Michigan St.
The Nittany Lions head back out on the road to take on the Spartans of Michigan State. Penn State lost a heartbreaker in Columbus last week controlling the game for the first 3 quarters and then have it unravel late was a tough way to lose. The Spartans are 6-2 and had a tough OT loss to Northwestern last week. Both teams are looking for redemption and I think the road team will find their mojo again.
