Leonards Losers Tribute 2017 Week 4 College Football Picks
Week 4 – September 21 2017
Alabama at Vanderbilt
The Crimson Tide head to the Music City to take on the Commodores of Vanderbilt. Both teams are unbeaten and Vandy is coming off a win against ranked Kansas State. Alabama has looked great this year, what a shock, but this is not an automatic W. Vandy is an interesting team that could actually make some noise in the SEC East; but I still think the noise you hear Saturday will be calls for help.
Zanes Zero – Vandy
Penn St. at Iowa
The Nittany Lions are on the prowl this Saturday against the Hawkeyes of Iowa in a battle of Big Ten unbeaten. Penn State has blown away their competition so far this year but this is their first real road test. Iowa has looked good and was pushed to the limit on the road by instate rival Iowa State. Penn State will need to protect the ball because Iowa is balanced on both sides of the ball and will take advantage of mistakes. I think Penn State will be able to control the game with their running attack and win by 7 on the road.
Zanes Zero – Iowa
Auburn at Missouri
Auburn hits the road to Missouri in a battle of Tigers Saturday. This has not been the best week for either team; Auburn has had to dismiss their backup qb from the team and a former top recruit is transferring. Missouri has dropped their last 2 home games (Purdue and South Carolina) and were not very competitive in either game. Auburn is 2-1 on the year with a close loss at Clemson and looked pretty average against Mercer last week. I think Auburn wins this week but they had better start to find their mojo before they get into the meat of their conference schedule.
Zanes Zero – Missouri
Duke at North Carolina
Duke takes the 8 mile road trip to Chapel Hill to take on rival North Carolina. Duke is 3-0 on the year with wins against Northwestern and Baylor. UNC is 1-2 on the season and may want to try this thing called tackling when playing defense. I hear that it works. Despite these shortcomings, the Tar Heels score points and I think they will hand the Blue Devils their first loss of the year.
Zanes Zero – Duke
Pittsburgh at Georgia Tech
The Pitt Panthers head south to take on the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech this week. Pitt has had a rough start to their season losing badly to Oklahoma State and Penn State and needing OT to beat Youngstown State. Ouch! Tech is 1-1 on the year with the 1-point loss to Tennessee and a blowout of Jacksonville State. This is a chance for Pitt to right the ship but I think the Yellow Jackets keep them off course.
Zanes Zero – Pitt
UNLV at Ohio St.
The Runnin Rebels head to Columbus to take on the Buckeyes of Ohio State. UNLV is 1-1 on the year and lost to Cam Newton’s younger brother’s team, Howard, in their opener. The Buckeyes are 2-1 on the year with a tough home loss to Oklahoma; this will be their last chance to iron out their offense before conference play.
Zanes Zero – UNLV
NC State at Florida St.
The Wolfpack heat to Tallahassee to take on the Seminoles of Florida State. This is FSU’s first game back since their opener against Alabama and will be breaking in a freshman quarterback. This is NC State’s first real test since coming up short against South Carolina in their opener. I think the Noles will ride their defense and their running game to victory against the Wolfpack.
Zanes Zero – NC State
Oklahoma at Baylor
The Sooners head to Waco to take on the Baylor Bears in Big 12 action. Baylor has gotten off to a terrible start with losses to Liberty and UTSA. Ouch. Oklahoma is looking great and will show no mercy on the Bears this Saturday. The Bears will be 0-4 after this one with Oklahoma winning easily.
Zanes Zero – Baylor
TCU at Oklahoma St.
TCU heads over to Stillwater to take on the Cowboys of Oklahoma State. TCU and Oklahoma State are 3-0 and whoever wins will get a little more respect nationally. TCU and State will have a lot of influence in the conference this year; both teams are in need of a quality win and this will be a close game for sure. I think the home team will win by a field goal late.
Zanes Zero – TCU
Miss. St. at Georgia
Mississippi State heads to Athens to take on the Bulldogs of Georgia. State looked great last week as they thoroughly destroyed LSU. Georgia had a tune up against Samford and is 3-0 as well. Both teams have great defenses and want to run the ball; Fitzpatrick threw the ball last week and is always a threat to run. Whoever wins the turnover battle will win the game so Georgia will probably reign in their Freshman QB a little bit. This is a coin flip game but I think the home team will prevail.
Zanes Zero – Mississippi State
Kent St. at Louisville
Kent State travels to Louisville to take on the Cardinals this week. The Cardinals suffered a tough loss to Clemson last Saturday and were suffocated by the Tiger D. Kent State will probably pay the price of Louisville’s misery and will probably facing the Cardinals scrubs from halftime to the end of the game.
Zanes Zero – Kent State
Boston College at Clemson
The Boys from Beantown head to the upstate of South Carolina to take on the Clemson Tigers. The Tigers are destroying their opponents this year and are the class of the ACC. The Tigers blew out Louisville on the road and look like a lock to get back to the playoffs. Football at BC gets as much attention as hockey gets at Clemson. Not much. The home team continues to roll in this one as the Tigers continue their prowl towards a BCS bowl.
Zanes Zero -Boston College
Syracuse at LSU
The Orange leave the comforts of the Carrier dome, to take on LSU in Death Valley. LSU was embarrassed by Mississippi State last week; the Tigers committed so many penalties the refs had to ice their elbows down after throwing so many flags. LSU is very physical – again – and are need of a convincing win; I do not think the Orange have enough weapons to derail the Tiger Train.
Zanes Zero – Syracuse
Arkansas at Texas A&M
The Aggies of A&M travel to Fayetteville to take on the hogs of Arkansas. Coach Bret Bielema’s team is 1-1 on the year after losing to TCU in week 2 and taking last week off. Arkansas needs to start pounding the ball on the ground again and stick with it. A&M started the year with a heartbreaking loss at UCLA after dominating most of the game and this will be their first true road test since their loss. I think Coach Sumlin will keep the Aggie ship sailing to victory.
Zanes Zero – Arkansas
Florida at Kentucky
The Gators hit the road as they slide into Lexington this Saturday. The Wildcats are coming off a big win in Columbia last week against the Gamecocks. The Gators are young and pulled out a win against Tennessee last week on the last play of the game. The Gators are still struggling on offense so things could get a little dicey for the Gators; however, I think they will be victorious by the twilight’s last gleaming.
